With summer edging ever closer and temperatures rising slowly but surely across the UK, we know more and more of our customers will be heading outside to enjoy their luscious artificial lawns. So we’ve put together some top tips for maximising your lawn use whilst ensuring your artificial lawn can be enjoyed by pets, friends and family alike all summer long! Here’s our top summer tips for your artificial grass this summer:

Keeping Pets Cool

We are currently experiencing a (rare) heatwave across many parts of the UK, whilst most humans enjoy (or at the very least don’t mind) soaking up the sun, it’s important to ensure any pets are enjoying the sunshine safely. Some of the best ways to monitor your pets’ health during periods of excessive heat are:

  • Keep pets well hydrated and water bottles/bowls topped up with cold water.
  • Monitor the amount of time they spend outdoors in excessive sunlight.
  • Make frozen treats by freezing their favourite snack in an ice cube.
  • Ensure there is sufficient shade for them to rest in if they get too warm.

Keeping Artificial Grass Cool

Artificial grass, like any conductive surface, will warm up on the summer days and if exposed to heightened sun for an extended period, the surface may become too hot for your pets’ paws to handle comfortably. The same can be said for toddlers and small children if playing outside for long periods of time, but this shouldn’t limit their playtime! We’ve put together some of the easiest solutions below:

  • If your grass gets to hot the fastest way to cool down the entire site is saturating it with a garden hose or large watering can.
  • Ensure there is sufficient shade for children and pets to rest in when they start to get warm, setting up a parasol or awning is ideal.
  • Laying down a blanket for children to sit and play on provides a cool surface between their skin and the grass, this is also perfect for outdoor dining!

If you have pets, it’s important that you keep up with your artificial grass maintenance, especially in the summer months! Insufficient maintenance will result in a build-up of harmful bacteria and toxic ammonia left behind by pet waste, if left to fester this becomes impossible to remove. Check out our store for all your pet friendly cleaning products! Although, we do offer a professional maintenance service if you’d rather put your feet up and relax!

We hope you find these summer tips for artificial grass helpful for getting you and your pets through the warmer months with ease! If you have any further questions, feel free to get in touch and a member of our dedicated team will be more than happy to assist you.
